The terms “reef safe” and “reef friendly” are not regulated by the FDA or any standard-setting organization. Since there are no official definitions or guidelines to determine what makes a formula reef safe, we can't technically claim this, but Clear as Day SPF 46 does not contain oxybenzone or octinoxate (two ingredients that are known to harm reefs). In 2018, Hawaii banned the sale of sunscreens made with oxybenzone and octinoxate, which means Clear as Day is Hawaii Compliant.
